The Antigua is a Direct Oceanfront residential condominium located in the heart of Ocean City, Maryland. From a bird's eye view, the building sits apart from "Condo Row" on its own block and looks somewhat like a nonagon (a nine sided polygon).
The unique shape of the Antigua was inspired by a contemporary high-rise in Japan. And, it is this shape that creates eight equal sides, or stacks, which affords each condo unit a panoramic view of the Atlantic Sea, Ocean City itself, or the Assawoman bay (More on the 9th stack later!)
The Antigua's unusual design also allows maximum privacy. Adjacent units are
impossible to see when looking out from the Antigua's windows or
balconies since the angle of each adjoining condo unit exceeds the typical 180 degrees found in most direct oceanfront units in other buildings. All eight stacks have a trapezoid footprint which not only creates an open floor plan, but allows for a wide angle view outside of the windows.
Antigua's wide angles allow for unparalleled privacy and greater panoramic views as compared to even the most private ocean front buildings in Ocean City. This design also increases the number of unobstructed direct oceanfront units in the building within a smaller footprint.
Those who have experienced the narrow and claustrophobic "shoe-box" condo unit will especially appreciate the Antigua's wide and open floor plan. In addition to the eight condo stacks, there is a ninth stack which houses the main lobby entrance, pool entrance, pool showers, saunas, stair cases, refuse chute, management office and elevators.
The Antigua has 14 floors and 104 condo units in total. The first 12 floors consist of 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom units. The 13th floor consists of 2 story penthouse units which boast 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. Most of the units have an open balcony that spans the length of the living room, or in the case of the penthouses, the living and dining rooms.
The amenities of the Antigua include direct beach access from the north and south sides of the building, rinsing stations on the north and south side, heated outdoor pool, kiddie pool, his and hers saunas, poolside showers with bathroom facilities, private parking, CCTV Security Cameras, 24 Hour patrol during peak seasons, and a beachfront volleyball court.
Because of its size and distance from "Condo Row" and major hotels, the Antigua's beachfront has fewer crowds and foot traffic during the summer season. Despite all this privacy, the Antigua has immediate access to a 24 Hour gas and convenience store right across the street as well as nearby shops and restaurants within walking distance.
